Who Are Ocean Heroes?
If you haven’t heard of Ocean Heroes, listen up – what they are doing is pretty awesome! Founded in 2016, Ocean Heroes is driven by a powerful mission: providing children on the autism spectrum with unique opportunities to learn social skills, bond with others, and discover their own strengths. They run events in both regional and metro of Australia, providing a fun and healthy way for people on the spectrum to take part in organised sport, boost their confidence and make connections with others.
What is the Event?
The annual event is a challenge that aims to raise funds in support of Ocean Heroes’ free events throughout the year. Teams of 12 swimmers will embark on a full 24 hours of swimming laps at Scarborough beach Pool.
When is the Event?
Registrations for the 2024 Revo Fitness 24hr Swim opened on January 15th, 2024, and will remain open until the close of business on February 12th. Teams will be announced on Monday, February 26th, and the event itself is set to take place on April 19th. Mark your calendars!
How Can You Take Part?
- Get a team together
Are you keen to get grab your goggles and get the gang together? Ocean Heroes want to hear your story! Share why you believe you’ve got what it takes to participate. Whether it’s a personal connection to autism or a commitment to reaching a team fundraising target, your ‘Why’ matters. To submit your story, please include the following details for all team members:
- Full name
- Mobile number
- Email address
- Preferred T-shirt size (excluding the 24hr swim shirt)
Email all your team’s details to swim@oceanheroes.com.au.
- Bring the cheer squad
If swimming isn’t your thing, you can still show your support! Everyone is welcome to head down to the event to cheer on the swimmers raising vital funds.
- Make a donation
Aside from heading down poolside to get amongst it, a donation helps fund essential equipment for their events. Every dollar (big or small) gives kids on the autism spectrum a chance to experience something truly special.
